Holiday Look In home tour

Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra This enormously popular event has become an anticipated community celebration, offering visitors a chance to view four distinctive homes in the Pasadena area, decorated for the holiday season by prominent floral designers. This year’s designers include Jacob Maarse. Tantalizing to elegant, inventive to endearing, the annual Holiday Look In home tour delivers visual delights and this year will be no exception.

Proceeds from this event are used to support the Pasadena Symphony’s annual concert series as well as many educational outreach and community engagement programs like the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra. PYSO has been training tomorrow’s classical musicians since 1972. Under the direction of Music Director, Jack Taylor, this exceptional ensemble is comprised of talented middle school students from grades six through nine. These committed young people receive advanced instruction and challenging music opportunities through a rigorous program that emphasizes ensemble playing and includes a minimum of three concerts a year.

The Women’s Committee

Women's Committee Founded in 1957, the Women’s Committee of The Pasadena Symphony Association is a dedicated group of volunteers who celebrate and support the musicians of the Pasadena Symphony Association through the annual Holiday Look In. Over the past 43 years the Women’s Committee has donated over $3 million to the Pasadena Symphony Association. This past season the Women’s Committee was pleased to donate $100,000 in proceeds from its 2010 Holiday Look In home tour.

Holiday Candlelight Concert

From London’s Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields to Notre Dame in Paris, Europeans have long cherished the tradition of hearing fine classical music in a beautiful cathedral setting. Join the Pasadena Symphony as we ring in the holidays with an elegant Old-European style in a concert of holiday music amidst the architecturally exquisite and acoustically sonorous setting of All Saints Church across from Pasadena City Hall. Soprano Lisa Vroman joins an array of choruses in this festive concert of traditional holiday melodies performed by candlelight—an aural respite that is sure to summon the spirit of the season!

Symphony Classics Series at the Ambassador Auditorium

Join the Pasadena Symphony for a season of Grammy award winners! Experience the sound, the passion, and the brilliance of the Pasadena Symphony’s 2012/2013 Classics Series at the Ambassador Auditorium. The series opens with Mei-Ann Chen, one of today’s foremost Maestras, conducting works by Beethoven and Shostakovich as sixteen year-old dynamo George Li performs Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. This passionate season also includes Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, and the world premier of Composer-in-Residence Peter Boyer’s Symphony No. 1.

For the 45th consecutive year the Women's Committee of the Pasadena Symphony Association presents its annual Holiday Look In Tour of four lovely homes beautifully decorated for Christmas by outstanding Pasadena-area floral designers. All proceeds of this event, scheduled for December 1st and 2nd this year, support the classical and Pops concerts of the Pasadena Symphony and to musical education in the San Gabriel Valley.

The one-hundred member Women's Committee has, by this endeavor contributed well over $3million dollars to the Symphony. We enjoy working together during the year and look forward with pride to another wonderful Holiday Look In. Our membership is open to anyone who shares our love for fine music and our great orchestra.

"It is my pleasure as this year’s Chair, along with Vice Chair Gerry Jackson, to welcome you to the 45th annual Holiday Look In Home Tour and Boutique. The Holiday Look In Home Tour provides the opportunity to visit four distinctive homes decorated for the holiday season, each by a different prominent local floral designer. On behalf of the Holiday Look In committee, I can promise you that whether you are someone who seeks decorating ideas for the holidays, or who simply enjoys touring beautiful and architecturally-diverse houses, you will be delighted and inspired by the two homes in South Pasadena, and the two homes in San Marino, featured on this year’s tour.

There is of course a serious reason why Women’s Committee members are willing to spend numerous hours of hard work every year to put together a successful home tour. Net proceeds from this two-day fundraising event help support Pasadena Symphony and POPS concerts as well as music education programs for children. All of us on the Women’s Committee are thrilled, therefore, that the Holiday Look In Home Tour and Boutique has grown into a much-loved, much-anticipated, and increasingly popular holiday tradition for the thousands of visitors who attend each year.

In addition to the four homes, the Holiday Look In Boutique will also be open both days of the home tour. Tour visitors are sure to be inspired and delighted by the variety of gift-buying possibilities offered by both new and returning vendors. To enhance the shopping experience, the Boutique also allows visitors the chance to have refreshments and relax with friends. So please join us at this year’s Holiday Look In – we know you’ll have a wonderful experience!
